NEWS ABOUT US OFFICES
Tax

Founded by tax attorneys, Lassar & Cowhey LLP is particularly well known for its tax expertise. Our attorneys rely on over twenty five years of experience to formulate creative and practical approaches to both plan for and resolve a wide array of federal, state and local tax issues. We work closely with our clients and their advisors to best insulate assets from estate, gift, income, capital gains, generation skipping transfer, and business taxes.

Business Taxes

In addition to advising our business clients with respect to the tax issues involved in the formation and operation of corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships, limited partnerships or limited liability companies, our tax attorneys counsel on the tax aspects of acquisitions and mergers of business entities, recapitalizations, the organization and liquidation of entities. We have experience with respect to a wide variety of other entities, including S corporations, professional service corporations, and trusts, and advise our clients on the use of these entities while giving full consideration and the particular tax concerns raised by each.

Trust & Estates Taxes

Drawing on our firm's Trusts & Estates practice our attorneys have decades of experience offering personal estate planning advice, incorporating tax planning services to high net worth individuals as well as trustees, executors, personal representatives, and other fiduciaries who serve them. We advise our clients on the tax implications of property transfer issues, family settlement agreements, charitable contributions made as part of the larger estate plan, and the creation and administration of trusts.

Through the use of testamentary and inter-vivos trusts, such as Qualified Personal Residence Trusts (QPRTs), Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts (GRATs), Charitable Trusts (CLTs & CRTs) and by utilizing the technique of the installment sale to an Intentionally Defective Grantor Trust (IDGTs), our attorneys are skilled at the preparation of documents aimed at minimizing taxes and the preserving of wealth for future generations.
